Fluorecycle, Inc. Recycling Facility

Air Cycle has contracted Fluorecycle, Inc. a state-of-the-art, permitted facility to process and dispose of your lamps. Fluorecycle, located in the midwest, is equipped with a premium MRT-engineered processing system, plus they provide an in-house MRT retort system.
The lamps are processed to their component parts including the distillation and reclamation of the hazardous mercury. This facility is regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and meets all standards set forth by these agencies. State-of-the-art equipment is used to process your lamps in an environmentally safe and legal manner.
Benefits we can offer to satisfy your requirements:
- Fluorecycle is the only company permitted by the Illinois EPA (IEPA) to operate as a lamp recycling destination facility.
- Fluorecycle performs the complete process of recycling your lamps including retorting the mercury out of the seperated powder. A Recycling Certificate can be issued to certify that your lamps have been destroyed and the components recycled.
- Fluorecycle is RCRA Part B Permitted by the State of Illinois for Hazardous Waste Management.
- Fluorecycle carries $3 million of liability pollution insurance for our mutual protection.
- State-of-the-art MRT equipment separates your lamps into basic components of glass, aluminum, copper, phosphor powder and MERCURY. Everything can be recycled.
- Your lamps can be processed within 24 hours of receipt.
- Fluorecycle is a member of the Illinois Recycling Association and Association of Lamp and Mercury Recyclers (ALMR).
The operating conditions meet even the toughest environmental standards. The entire process is fully automatic and incorporated in a container in which the air is brought to subpressure, thereby preventing mercury from being released into the environment. Exhaust air is constantly discharged through the internal carbon filters. With the aid of a sophisticated patented air transportation system, the phosphor powder is separated in different steps from the by-products. The mercury bearing powder is collected in distiller barrels beneath the cyclone and the self-cleansing dust filters. This mercury bearing powder will later be retorted to drive the mercury out of the powder.
At the end of the process the glass, metal end-caps, powder, and mercury can all be re-used.
We trust that these are the capabilities you are looking for in choosing your waste recycler. We welcome your visit to our facility to review our operation.
